Gazprom Neft wants to buy Serbia's Petrohemija

The plan is for Petrohemija to function in a stable manner in the long term

Russian energy company Gazprom Neft is interested in participating in the privatization process of the Serbian company HIP-Petrohemija.

Minister of Mining and Energy Aleksandar Antic met on the sidelines of the 9th International Gas Forum in St. Petersburg with Gazprom Neft CEO Alexander Dyukov, and one of the topics of the meeting was the upcoming privatization process of HIP - Petrohemija AD Pancevo, the ministry has announced.

Minister Antic said that the future of the company was of utmost importance and that it needed a strategic partner for the sake of investments, which should ensure that Petrohemija is stable in the long run.

Alexander Dyukov pointed out that Gazprom Neft has a potential interest in participating in finding an adequate privatization modality, and it was jointly agreed that the government of Serbia and Gazprom Neft would intensify and make concrete their talks about Petrohemija.

During the meeting, the realization of ongoing projects was analyzed, most notably "Deep Processing" which is significant for the entire oil sector and which will ensure that NIS remains a leader in the demanding regional oil products market.

They also discussed the work and business of the Petroleum Industry of Serbia (NIS), assessing that additional efforts will be made so that this joint venture, which has an impact on the overall Serbian economy, is able to achieve even better results, in accordance with expectations of both shareholders.
